*sigh*
Gotta love Twin Rocks.... Anybody who doesn't... Well.... They probably have issues.
On Friday (last time I posted) my mom had to work.... So by the time she got home, probably around 5:30-6:00, we were already missing part of the first Family Camp dinner. Unfortunately, there was no way around this. The car was also getting some repairs, so we had to wait anyway. At around 6:00 we were able to head out. It was very odd to be going camping and be able to sit comfortably in the car. It was definitely nice though. So anyway, we grabbed a bite to eat at DQ (to go, of course), my mom stopped by the post office to mail a letter, we talked for a few minutes with my grandma who also happened to be at the post office, then we were out of there. We listened to Lifesong along the way (what an awesome CD!!!!). We made great time, and at around 8:30 we arrived at Twin Rocks. We checked in, said hi to Joe (because Joe is cool :p), then drove up to where they told us we could tent camp. It was back behind Macy Chapel, but right next to the path. At that point it was getting late, so we decided to set up the tent in the light of the headlights. We set up pretty fast, but we had an air mattress that we had to pump up... A queen sized air mattress, and all we had to pump it with was a basketball pump. That ended up taking a while..... But it still got done, so it was fine. We decided not to stake down the tent yet, incase we wanted to move later. We wandered a bit, then headed back to the tent. I had brought Treasure Mountain to read (since it takes place not far from Twin Rocks), so we read a bit of that out loud. Then we turned in for the night. According to my mom it was loud.... I knew the people on the path were kinda loud, but I guess I missed out on the train going by. I'm a heavy sleeper..... :p
So the next day we went to breakfast at about 8:00. It was this really good thing that is really hard to describe.... It was like a potato casserole, and it was DELICIOUS! After breakfast, we headed back to the tent to get our stuff. Then we went to worship. We sang songs... That was fun. Then we divided into the age group classes. I went with the high school group of course. Huge group.... But it was interesting. We talked about our apology (this is what I believe, this is why I believe it). THen we played a game to demonstrate blind faith. It was difficult... That's an understatement. It was like a blindfolded guided thing involving a lot of confusion and yelling. I was so confused.............
After that was the ever wonderful LUNCH! But not just lunch..... BBQ day!!!!!!! My favorite meal. The best burgers ever.... Maybe. They are good anyway. So we had our burgers, the photographer took a terrible picture of us eating (I hate it when people take pictures of me eating), and then it was free time. My mom had asked if we could move our tent to the athletic field, and the staff had no problem with that, so we decided to do that. We threw most of our stuff back in the car, then together we picked up the tent and carried it across camp. It was kind of awkward, but it was funny, and we did successfully make it.... So that was good. Then we set up again (we didn't have to re-pump the air mattress though!). This time we also set up our "spaceship" (that's what I call it... It's really a rain shelter thing), our chairs, and a little fold out table. We made our own little home out in the athletic field. It was really nice. After setting up, we decided to read more of Treasure Mountain. The extreme swing didn't open until 2:00, so we had some time to kill. We read until about 1:30, then headed up to the swing. We brought the book with us, since we would still have time to kill. We read for a bit more, and then another family came up, so we chatted with them. Around 2:00 the guy running the swing came up. Of course, being the first ones up there, I was up first. Having plenty of experience by now, I was able to quickly put on the harness and step up on the platform. The staff person did a little explaining of what to do, then I was up. Man, I love that swing.... Number 14 that day. We were only allowed to go once a day, so we left shortly after my turn. My mom didn't want to go. After that, we decided to go for a drive. We headed down the highway aiming for Nehalem, where Treasure Mountain takes place. We drove down to around where the main characters lived (of course since it's a fictional book not much was there....). Then we decided to head further down the highway to Oswald West State Park. My request, of course. We were lucky enough to get there right as someone else was leaving, so we were able to park. We went down to the camping area, then to the suspension bridge. That was fun...... Although once you get off you still feel like you're bouncing. Hehehe.... I can almost feel it now. It was really weird. Then we walked to the beach access area, then back up to the parking. We had to head back so we wouldn't miss dinner. We got back in time, and went to the dining hall to find a table to eat at. We sat down with a couple other families, and then dinner time. It was delicious too! Chicken, bread, potatoes... Fantastic!
After dinner we had more time to kill. So we read some more! Then they had a little thing into he meeting house to tell about the youth camps. We know all about the youth camps, of course, but they were giving scholarships, so we went anyway. Joe was up talking about the youth camps. Then he asked some of the youth campers to go up and answer a few questions. He talked to most of the other kids first. I was second to last. When he got to me the first thing he asked was "Emi.... How many times have you been on the extreme swing here at camp?" I proudly stated 14. Then he explained that last year at Tween Camp I was up at the swing every day, and so was he. He asked what else I liked, I said the aqua-jump, the worship, the people.... Then I went to sit down. They did a few other things, gave the scholarships away (I didn't get one... Darn), then we got even more time to kill. You guessed it! We read. :) We read for a while, then we went down to the Victory Circle for some songs. That proved to be amusing.... The leader didn't know many songs, and the fire they had going was kind of pathetic... My mom, me, and a couple other people finally got it going though. And we did have fun singing some songs. Some silly songs, but it was still great. After that was bed time. Of course, there was some reading first for us.... But we did get to bed. And it was nice and quiet out in the athletic field.
OK. I think that's enough for now. It's really really long, and I haven't even had the chance to talk about the fun fun fun stuff we did on Sunday and Monday! But I'll get to it later..... I need to be up early (for me) to go to grandma's for breakfast. So I'll write more later.
